Victory in the Making
Graybar is powering a new era by reimagining the customer experience and transforming our business for the future. Our relationship with International Speedway Corporation (ISC) and its family of race tracks has created exciting opportunities to participate in some truly transformative projects. This year, as the Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama celebrates its 50th anniversary and Graybar celebrates its 150th anniversary, we are proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Transformation Infield Project. Let’s look back at what Graybar and ISC have accomplished together in the past several years.
In July 2013, construction crews broke ground at Daytona International Speedway to begin a new wave of renovations at the iconic track. This included everything from comfier seats to expanded entrances to social “neighborhoods.” Guests could also enjoy the additional concession stands and luxury suites for an elevated hospitality experience while at Daytona.
As a part of the Daytona Technology Platform, Graybar played a key role by offering supply chain management solutions throughout the redevelopment process up until its completion in 2016. Whether we were sourcing products or providing operational support, Graybar helped reimagine Daytona International Speedway and built a strong relationship with ISC in the process.
Lighting Up Martinsville
After nearly seven decades of racing limited to daylight hours, Graybar helped bring the light to the historic Martinsville Speedway in Virginia. In 2017, NASCAR’s oldest track became the first major racing facility in North America to use LED lights. Graybar provided four 100-foot poles on the infield and 15 poles around the perimeter of the grandstand to make this dream a reality. We also oversaw the installation of Eaton’s Ephesus lighting solutions at the track.
The Light Up Martinsville project created a better visual experience for fans in the stands as well as those at home, and all of it was ready in time for September’s Valley Star Credit Union 300. NASCAR will run the first Cup-Series night race at Martinsville in May 2020.
This year, Graybar is thrilled to contribute to an immersive fan experience as the presenting sponsor of Transformation – the Talladega Superspeedway Infield Project. The $50 million endeavor includes a new interactive Talladega Garage Experience, expanded, premium RV camping and amenities, a new Pit Road Club and other exciting features. Fans will get to see it all during race weekend in October.
It is a monumental year for Graybar and Talladega Superspeedway as we celebrate our 150th anniversary and Talladega’s 50th anniversary. We are proud to work with ISC to provide a wide range of solutions, including switchgear, wire, stadium lighting and electrical components, for an equally monumental project.
The Road Ahead
ISC and Graybar share a history of innovation and a focus on creating an unparalleled customer experience. We are incredibly thankful to work with a forward-thinking organization like ISC, and we look forward to powering the new era together.
